How fees work
The answers to what most parents ask before a first session.
What will it cost, and how do I pay?
The fee depends on the length of the session, and you get it in writing before you start. You pay by card at the end of each session, including HSA and FSA cards. A small number of reduced-fee spots are open; ask how to request one. Please give 24 hours' notice to change an appointment.
Child and teen sessions are 50 minutes
A joint co-parenting session is 80 minutes
Do you take insurance?
Raymond is out of network with insurance plans, so you pay for each session yourself. He does not bill Medicare or Medicaid. If you want someone who bills your plan, he will give you the names of colleagues.

What does the first visit cover?
A first session for your child is 50 minutes. Raymond talks with you first about what you have seen at home, then spends time with your child. You get the fee in writing before you book it.
Can I get a receipt to claim reimbursement?
Each month you get an itemized receipt (a superbill) with the dates and kind of session, to send to your plan, which may reimburse part of out-of-network care. It carries a diagnosis code your insurer can see. Your plan decides whether it pays anything, so ask before you start.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of what care will cost before you start. Raymond gives you one before the first session. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.
Your rights, at cms.gov/nosurprisesWho checks my benefits?
Nobody at Sylvan does, because Raymond does not bill your plan. To find out whether your plan reimburses, call it before the first session and ask about out-of-network mental health benefits.
If your parenting plan splits the cost of therapy, one parent holds the account and receives the receipts. How you split the cost is between the two of you: Sylvan does not send a bill to two people for one session.
A few more questions about fees
Can I use a health savings or flexible spending card?
Yes. You can pay by card at the end of each session, including HSA and FSA cards.
What if we cancel?
Please give 24 hours' notice to change an appointment. Raymond tells you in writing, before you start, what happens when a session is missed.
Can both parents pay?
One parent holds the account and receives the receipts. How you split the cost is between the two of you.
